N ational Forest Centre in cooperation with project partners State Forestry Agency MoldSilva of Republic Moldova and Association of women in Republic of Moldova submitted in March 2021 project idea within grant scheme Slovak Aid called Transfer the knowledge and raise awareness about the sustainable use of natural resources on the example of forest pedagogy. The project aim is to transfer the knowledge and raise awareness about the sustainable use of natural resources on the example of forest pedagogy. The forest pedagogy concept and its philosophy of learning on the example of the forest contributes to the principles of sustainable development. The main topics will be climate change and forest protection, which directly contributes to fulfillment of SDG 13. Forests are an important element by solving problems with climate change and by environmental protection. With its focus, the project fulfills the sectoral priority Infrastructure and sustainable use of natural resources, an activity aimed at raising awareness in the field of sustainable use of resources and environmental protection.
The project is also aimed at addressing gender inequalities and contributes to achievement of gender equality (SDG 5). One of the project partners is the Association of Women in Forestry, which will have a positive impact on the improvement of the position of women. Within the target group, there is an equal representation of men and women.Women are also included in the project management.
The main activities of the project are focused on strengthening of the pedagogical skills of pedagogical staff and foresters through seminars and environmental education on the example of the forest. The created methodological materials will be a support tool for the participants and at the same time for the target group of pupils who will participate in the pilot programs. Programs on the example of forest pedagogy will be tested in practice and in the future will serve as a starting point for the implementation of forest education in the school curriculum. The Forestry Days information campaign will be transferred as a best practice to Moldova. Moldovan partners will develop and organize a similar model in Moldova.
The project will be implemented in the Orehei National Park and in the future the forestry pedagogy programs will be spread in other areas of Moldova.
