Long-term leader of the FCN Subgroup Forest Pedagogics – Dirk Schmechel announced his retirement

A fter more than 20 years dedicated work to forest pedagogy the founder of the Forest Communication Network – Subgroup Forest Pedagogics - Dirk Schmechel announced his retirement during the 19th Forest Pedagogy Congress which took place in Visegrád, Hungary in the beginning of October this year.

On behalf of all members of the Subgroup Forest Pedagogics, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for his exceptional leadership and dedication though years. His inspiring vision have greatly contributed to the development and recognition of forest pedagogy across Europe. His tireless efforts to promote forest pedagogy, the education for sustainable development, and the connection between people and nature have left a lasting impact on all of us.

With his guidance and personal example Dirk has fostered a spirit of cooperation, creativity, and mutual respect within our community. He not only created a working community with mutual goals, but he also gave birth to a “Baby” which grew up in a big Forest Pedagogy family that shares common goals in the spirit of true friendship.

We truly believe that even not on the head of the FCN-Subgroup FP, he will continue to be our advisor and will contribute with his knowledge and experience for the development and enhancing of the Forest Pedagogy and Forest Pedagogues around Europe.

Thank you, Dirk!
